Eulogy for Grandmother :: Eulogies Eulogy
Tribute for Grandmother I accept that each individual in, in their own novel way, makes an inheritance in the course of their life by which others can live long after that individual has left us. For those of us who remain, Mildred Johnson has really made a heritage to maintain and satisfy in our every day lives. I solidly accept this doing is a genuine respect and obligation by methods for the different features that Mildred has made her own. Love : Above all, Mildred Johnson is a figure of unqualified love. Love was the significant texture by which she made her embroidery of life. In the bringing up of her own kids, the lessons of her grandkids, and by they way she invited in new loved ones, her unrestricted solid love is the thing that has made our family what it is today and what will keep us together from this day forward. Soul : My Grandma, Mildred Johnson, is a genuine lady of confidence. For as long as I can recollect, my Grandma has been a transport of the expression of God in building up her family and carrying on with her day by day life. Never would she miss a Sunday to share the word and love of God. As time pushes ahead not all of Godââ¬â¢s kids stay sufficient as before to lead his rush. Nor can all of Godââ¬â¢s ensemble keep on singing very as boisterously as they generally have. This is the point at which the Lord brings them into his hands to rest their spirits as he has now finished with Mildred. No doubt about it, in any case, as the inheritance of soul that she has made within each one of us will keep on living on. Family : My Grandmother Mildred genuinely characterized the word family as I have come to learn and live it. Occasions and family social affairs were the festivals they were on the grounds that they were encircled by Grandmaââ¬â¢s love. I observed family, for example, my late uncle Reginald become the astonishing family man he was a result of conventions imparted by his mom. I have likewise observed her little girl - my auntie Milinda â⬠bring up three excellent kids by the adoration and customs went down from Grandma. I, obviously, owe a large portion of who I am from Grandmaââ¬â¢s love gone down through my own mom Rayetta and her significant other George, whom Grandma so exceptionally respected.

Jonah: A False Prophet or a Prophet with a False God? Essay -- Religio
Jonah: A False Prophet or a Prophet with a False God? The Jonah account is a story frequently advised to youngsters to underscore that it isn't right to run from God and it is extremely unlikely to escape from God. Anyway as grown-ups we see that there is something else entirely to the story. There are numerous approaches to decipher the Jonah account and the character of Jonah. Perusers may even peruse the story with an enemy of Semitic view in the event that they judge exclusively from their initial introductions of Jonah. We see a man who escapes, a man who is irate with God, and a man who mopes under a shrub and wishes to kick the bucket. From this we may reason that Jonah is narrow minded. On the off chance that we read past the surface impression and give cautious consideration to the story and Jonah's words and not simply deeds, we see a progressively otherworldly worry in Jonah's heart. He isn't worried about what individuals consider him yet what individuals consider God. During Jonah's time, conditions were not truly steady. Political, social, and strict issue reigned in Israel. Syria had as of late prevailed upon a war and taken Israel. The connection between Jonah's country and Nineveh, the capital of Syria, were stressed and overflowing with enmity. Israel itself was in a condition of unrest, attempting to conform to the loss of their capacity and autonomy (Winard 538). In his article Jonah: The Wayward Dove, Richard Stamp accuses Jonah of outrageous patriotism. We see a somewhat unpalatable man who is defiant to God and is by all accounts an extremist patriot of the most noticeably awful kind (Stamp 80). Jonah's disappointment with God shows that he would prefer to see the pulverization of in excess of a hundred and twenty thousand spirits than recognize that God can be kind to the outsiders of Nineveh. Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Powerful use of Characterization in The Tempest In The Tempest, Shakespeare investigates the process of creativity as well as the idea that knowledge is equivalent to power. The Bard draws on both Christian and Aristotelian philosophy to support the premise that morality and creativity are made possible only through the acquisition of knowledge. The characters of Prospero, Ariel, Caliban, and Miranda each represent a different factor in the creative process: knowledge, creativity, medium, and final product, art. Yet they represent something else, as well: the deep divide between the social classes. The same imagery used to illustrate the creative process is used to support the European class system and the subjugationâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This concept of the magician resulted from the synchretism of Neo-Platonic thought with Christian belief (60). Although this view would be somewhat objectionable to King James and many Christians of the time, Prosperos presence in the play as a heroic figure would be acceptable because of his good intentions (61). Prospero may not be a magician at all (James 62). This may only be an assumption made by the reader or viewer (64). Prospero speaks of my Art, but he carries out no magic himself (62). In fact, the books that Caliban believes supply this power are of the liberal arts, and not about magic at all (62). Because Caliban did not understand and could not explain how Prospero did what he did, Prosperos abilities would seem like magic. Allowing for this interpretation would help to make the play even more acceptable to James I. The problem of having a benevolent character who practices magic would no longer exist (64). If not a magician, then Prospero is a wise man or an artist. Though wise, he is a human being and is fallible; but he is equipped with the knowledge that will help him to make ethical decisions. Essay on Descartes vs Locke - 1257 Words
The study of knowledge, or epistemology, contains theoretical methods in which information is learned. Of these methods, there are two that are most widely accepted. Rationalism and empiricism are also the most widely debated methods of knowledge. Rationalism claims that a priori processes and intuition gain knowledge. Rationalism claims that knowledge is innate; but that it varies among humans. At the other end of the spectrum, empiricism claims that knowledge is gained largely by experience, observation, and sensory perception. Descartes says that though machines may superficially appear to imitate man, they could still be discerned from real men with certainty. Machines, he says, ``could never use words, or put together other signs, as we do in order to declare our thoughts to others (Descartes, 44). Nor can animals (beasts), as they have not only less reason than men, but no reason at all (Descartes, 45). Compare this with Lockes claim that animals (brutes) ``have not the faculty of abstracting, or making general ideas, since they have no use of words (Locke, 64). In both Descartes and Locke, I see precursors for theories of the importance of reason and language. Descartes and Locke both discuss free will; in particular, they consider how it is that our will may be both directed and remain free, and how it is consistent with the existence of a God that we can err in our ways. On the first of these points, Descartes thinks this does not limit our freedom; instead he believes that the more one inclines in one direction, the more free the choice is. On the second point Descartes believes that the imperfection is not one from God, but that our intellect is not as great as our will (Descartes, 101). Oscar Wildes Aestheticism Essay Example for Free
Oscar Wildes Aestheticism Essay Though Oscar Wilde is the incarnation of the aestheticism schools, we canââ¬â¢t afford to ignore the other artists of the aesthetes. It is imperative that we should give a general introduction to aestheticism in the following paragraphs. Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that studies the principles of beauty especially in art. Aestheticism is the collection of all the fruits of aesthetics. ââ¬Å"The word ââ¬Ëaestheticââ¬â¢ was first found in Aesthetica, appearing as a Latin word, which is the name of two books written by Alexander Baumgarten, 17141762. â⬠(Williams, 2005: 31) Baumgarten believes beauty can be defined as aesthetic, but when it is related to art, the most important part of Baumgartenââ¬â¢s translation of beauty is that beauty is not abstract but can be felt by people through their senses. This translation is the same as the Greek word ââ¬Å"aisthesisâ⬠, the original meaning of which is the power of uniting mentally the impressions conveyed by the five physical senses. And in the middle of the 19th century, aesthetic is understood as ââ¬Å"the beautifulâ⬠, which is generally related to art. In 1880, the word ââ¬Å"aestheteâ⬠was used in a wide range, but contained a derogatory sense. Both the principle and the practice of the aesthetic movement led by Walter Pater were criticized at that time. But the British decadent writers were deeply influenced by Walter Pater. The artists and writers of the aesthetic movement held the view that sensuous pleasure should be provided by arts, not moral or sentimental messages. As a consequence, they did not accept John Ruskin and Matthew Arnoldââ¬â¢s utilitarian conception of art as something moral or useful. Instead, they believed that art did not have any didactic purpose; it needed only be beautiful. The aesthetes developed the cult of beauty, which they considered the basic factor in art. In Britain, Oscar Wilde is famous as one of the best representatives of the aesthetes. He believes that art represents nothing but itself, and that art has its own life just as thoughts do.

An Analysis of the First Two Acts of The Tempest Essay -- The Tempest E
à à The first two acts of The Tempest share a couple of inconsequential similarities and have some very contrasting differences. The similarities are, on the whole, superficial: Both acts consist of just two scenes and both acts are of a similar length. However, the similarities end there. à à à à à à à à à à à The lengths of the scenes in each act differ somewhat: Act 1 has one extremely short scene and one very lengthy scene; Act 2 is composed of two scenes of similar length. Also, the tone of each act is very different, with Act 1 being serious and composed, whilst Act 2 is more comic, often descending into pure farce. Analysing one scene at a time will show just how different the two acts are. à à à à à à à à à à à à Act 1, Scene 1 is entirely unlike the other three scenes in the first two acts. It is fast-paced, exciting and uncomplicated, allowing the audience to be drawn into the play before the more complex scenes begin. The only notable thing in this scene is the introduction of Gonzalo, who is shown to be a patient, calm and optimistic person. None of the other characters are defined particularly vividly, nor need they be - this scene is supposed to be action-oriented and too much characterisation and plotting would ruin the tense atmosphere. à à à à à à à à à à à à Scene 2 contrasts greatly with the opening scene, being lengthy and dialogue-driven, with little action at all. This scene is very important to the rest of the play, as it sets up the main background to the main characters, as well as defining some of those same characters. It is Prospero's character which is explored the most in this scene; whilst he explains his history to Miranda, we begin to see the sort of person he is. à à From his dialogue, one can... ...t to be highly entertaining. Whether one finds the first two acts entertaining or not, by the end of the second act many of the main characters and themes have already been well defined. à Works Cited and Consulted: Garnett, Richard. Demand of Corn Oil
Rising oil prices in the United States have forced discussion on seeking alternative energy sources. One option that keeps being discussed by researchers is the usage of corn oil as a viable solution. This paper will explore the economic factors such as supply, demand and price elasticity around corn oil and its substitute soybeans. Supply of Soybeans If the demand for corn increases due to is use as an alternative energy source, the supply of corn's substitutes such as soybeans will decrease. Based upon the determinants of supply ââ¬â producers, resources, market expectations, subsidies and taxes and technology ââ¬â the factors point to a decrease in supply. The number of producers of soybeans may decrease. Some farmers may choose to use some of their land to grow corn as opposed to soybeans, to meet the increase in corn demand. A decrease in producers would also cause a decrease in resources used to grow soybeans. Also, the market would expect corn as that is what is being touted as the viable energy source, so there's more pressure on farmers to have corn. The US government currently gives subsidies to corn farmers, which gives them an even bigger incentive to grow corn instead of soybeans. While the technology is there to grow soybeans, there is only so much farm space and corn is the primary focal point. Price of Corn Oil If the demand for corn increases, the price of corn oil will also decrease. Whenever demand for something increases, and the supply for that item decreases, it drives the price of it up in the marketplace. It becomes that much more valuable as it's that much harder to attain. If everyone wants corn, but there's only so much corn available, the corn farmers can charge more for it because they know consumers will be willing to pay more to have it. Price Elasticity of Demand and Total Revenue According to Wally Sparks' article, corn is an inelastic good because there are so few substitutes for it (Sparks, 2007). When a good is inelastic, that means that customers are not as sensitive to price changes, versus those of an elastic good. So even when corn prices were at an all time high years ago, people were still consuming corn because in the short run, they had few other options. When a good is inelastic, and the price of that good goes up, total revenues also go up. Let's say corn was $8/barrel and a farmer normally sells 100 barrels. That will yield $800 for that farmer. Well if he raises the prices to $10/barrel and still sells at least 100 barrels ââ¬â since th good is inelastic and demand hasn't changed ââ¬â that same farmer has now made $1,000. While this is just a made-up example, it shows how the increase in price yields more total revenue when a good is inelastic. Conclusion Supply and demand are king in understanding and predicting market trends. When something is in high demand, sometimes producers aren't able to make enough of it quickly enough. This causes prices to go up because supply is down. This principle applies to everything from the cars we drive to the food we eat, and in this case the corn oil we use.

Washington And The Us Founding Fathers - 1930 Words
George Washington Whenever I read the story of Washington and the US founding fathers is going to be feeling endless, The United States since the two hundred years of history since the Revolutionary War, Washington was the only political leader in his lifetime to get national unity of worship and even deified. From what I understand the scope of world history, I would like to talk about some of my objective views about president George Washington. He is the only person who established a country but did not want to be a ââ¬Ëkingââ¬â¢. He has been able to understand the heart of democracy, but I still can not understand why he has been able to rest assured that the liberal democracy foundation established by himself desperately entirely entrusted to another group who responsible for thinking of scholars were in the rear, if this is a lifelong pursuit of the dream, why he would prefer to fall by the wayside. Asians And Asian American Culture - 882 Words
This class helped me realize how ignorant I really was about the Asian American culture as well as the Native American culture. I generally believed that I was more culturally sound than I actually am. I believed that I knew more about these cultures than I really did and was shocked to realize that I fed into some of the stereotypes. I knew that Asian Americans did well academically because their parents valued education and had them study more than their peers, however I did not realize that culturally boys were expected to succeed more academically than girls were. I believed that girls were equally held up to a standard as boys were. Watching the film clips related to Asians and Asian Americans was an eye opening experience. Just as African Americans are told that their natural hair is not good enough and it is internalized, it appears it is the same for many Asian Americans in relation to their eyes. The film clip about the young girl being taken to have plastic surgery on her eyes at the age of 12 because she felt that she would be more beautiful was a heart-breaking scene to watch. It never occurred to me that a feature that is specific to that particular group would become something that has almost become shameful to a lot of people. The Great Man Theory Of Leadership - 1173 Words
The Great Man Theory of leadership dates back to the early 1900s where it was strongly believed that great leaders are born, not made. The basic premise of this theory has been contested since the inception of leadership study. While recent studies show some evidence to the contrary, the fundamental principle of the theory does retain some validity. The historian Thomas Carlyle coined the Great Man Theory as he argues the worldââ¬â¢s history is simply a collection of biographies belonging to great men (U, 2016). Although referred to as the Great Man Theory, the foundation of the theory is gender neutral. It has more recently been termed the Great Man/Great Woman Theory of leadership, removing the gender associated bias. To gain a worldwide perspective on the question born or made, the Center for Creative Leadership posed the question to executives spanning 53 countries. The results indicated a consensus to the contrary of the Great Man Theory. More than half, 53.4% of respondents believe that leaders are made, referred to as ââ¬Å"Madesâ⬠while only 19.1% believe that they are born, ââ¬Å"Bornsâ⬠. Interestingly, about a quarter of the executives surveyed, 28.5%, think leaders are both born and made. (Mascone, 2013) Analyzing further, a combined 47.6% think there is some validity to being born a leader. Thus, it proves difficult to arrive at a conclusion with empirical data in support of either theory. The survey expanded on various leadership topics in an effort to determine what Borns and Mades believe are important characteristics of leaders. Both Borns and Mades believe that leaders should be humane, charismatic, participative and team oriented. Borns are more likely to believe that following protocol and behaving in traditional ways in accordance with the status and position of a leader will make them more effective.

Examine Possibilities Expansion Of Businessââ¬Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Examine Possibilities Expansion Of Business? Answer: Introduction The respective Company is a small software organization that was established less than five years ago. The software organization is based in Melbourne. The company deals with the development and the customization of the applications that specialize in the information and the network security area. The major clients of the company are based in the major cities of Australia, which range from small to medium sized organizations. This organization at present is undertaking projects that are developing applications in-house or the customization of the off-shell software. These are done with agreement with the large vendors. The business scope of the organization at present is limited to the development of the applications. The Company at present and compiling the recent scenario is exploring option to expand its business opportunities in the next five years to its other branches within the information and the communication technology. The Company also plans to expand its business to all p arts of Australia and if possible overseas also. The future options of this organization are to diversify the business to provide the ongoing information and the network security services to the various businesses, which have a presence on the online platform. This will require management of the online security of those organizations, websites and the database of the clients. The report is an investigation of the possibility of the expansion of the business. The following report provides the discussion regarding the information and the security applications that are there in the market at present and its uses. The report also focuses on the security and the technological aspects of the advantages and the risks involved. Discussion Information Security and Network Security The information security refers to the number of the strategies that are used to manage the different processes, the tools and the policies, which are important for the prevention, detection, documentation, and to counter the threats to the digital and the non-digital information. It is also called as the infosec. Infosec has the responsibility to establish the business process to protect the assets of information despite the information being in the mode of formatting or transition or is at rest in the storage or being processed Panda, Abraham Patra, 2012). The network security on the other hand refers to any action that is designed for the protection of the usability and integrity of the network and the data. The network security is effective and manages the access to the network. The duty of the network security is to target the threats and stops them from spreading to the network of an individual. The network security is a combination of the various layers of the defenses in the network. Each layer has its policies and controls (Stallings Tahiliani, 2014). Information/Network Security Applications Authentication Applications (Kerberos) The Kerberos is an authentication protocol that is designed for the internet protocol and the transmission control protocol. This service acts on the concerned network acts as trusted intermediary. This application allows the clients to access to other different clients and services on the respective network. This application keeps a database of the various clients and their protected keys. The services require the authentication of the clients by registration of the password keys with this application. There is the creation of the shared password session that is provided to the client and the server for the encryption of the messages. For the purpose of the encryption the Kerberos uses DES that is the data encryption standard. The customer or the client has make a request for the ticket granting service from the application and then this application sends the ticket to the respective client that has the encryption of the client password key. The generation of the authenticators by t he client is done by sharing the password keys. If the credentials provided by the client are approved, then the server grants access to the service (Mahajan Sachdeva, 2013). There is a possibility to replace all the client Kerberos software with a version, which records the passwords. Web Security Standards These use the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol for providing a reliable and secure service on the Transmission Control Protocol. The web security threats are located at the server or the customer and include passive and active attacks. The passive attacks comprises of the access to the network traffic between the browser and the server and accessing the restricted information. The active attacks comprise of the impersonation as another user and alteration of the messages and the information on a website. There are security parameters to define the association between the browser and the server. There is provision of the confidentiality by using the symmetric encryption and message integrity. The message integrity is determined by the shared password key, which is used in the form of the message authentication code. During the alert, there is through a simple warning and if the alert is fatal then there is termination of the connection. The alert messages are sent using the codes (K umar, Ashok Subramanian, 2012). IP Security Application This application is an agenda of the open standards that ensure private and secure communications over the internet protocol networks using the cryptographic protection services. This security is a collection of protection services that are cryptography based. The authentication and the privacy mechanisms of the protected internet protocol provide the basis for the security strategy for the individuals (Park et al., 2012). There is protection of the pair of hosts and security gateways. There is the provision of the authentication of the origin of the data, encryption that ensures the data is not leaked and the data has not been changed on the way. There is also detection of the things that are received more than once so help to protect against the defiance of the service attacks. The implementation of this application enables the provision of a strong security. This application is below the transport layer and is transparent in nature. The implementation of this application in the en d system does not affect the upper layer software and the applications. This application also provides security to the individual users if required. Expansion Opportunities of the Company The Company at present and compiling the recent scenario is exploring option to expand its business opportunities in the next five years to its other branches within the information and the communication technology. The Company also plans to expand its business to all parts of Australia and if possible overseas also (Franke Brynielsson, 2014). The future options of this organization are to diversify the business to provide the ongoing information and the network security services to the various businesses, which have a presence on the online platform. This will require management of the online security of those organizations, websites and the database of the clients. The world is changing at a pace and there are risks to the information assets of the businesses and the individuals. Online applications, cloud computing and the mobility are the new technologies that are adopted as the value of the information is high and is a major organizational asset. The incidents of the cyber atta cks, cyber spying, ransomware, threats of the insider are reported frequently. The immunity to these security breaches is low hence, the usage of the applications that specialize in the information and the network security area is necessary. Before the consideration for expansion of the business, there are some points to be kept in mind. The managing of the new locations for the expansion is necessary (Barnaghi et al., 2012). There has to be the managing of the energy and the resources between the new and the old locations. It has to be kept in mind if the expanding entity will be a separate entity or subsidiary of the main Company. The tax implications and the policies have to be kept in mind. A comprehensive analysis of the financial investment is important. The information about the competitors and their operations is necessary. The performance of the competitors also has to be tracked and analyzed. To expand the business a few strategies have to be followed: A market segmentation analysis has to be done firstly. The SWOT analysis of the Organization has to be performed before the expansion of the Company all over Australia and overseas. There has to be a development of a strategy and a business plan. The setting of the reasonable goals to measure the progress and the cost benefits has to be done by the management. The tactical project has to be planned with commitment of the dates. The government and the industry specific regulations have to be ensured and reviewed with proper certifications. Off shelf software and in-house products The off-shelf software has a lower up-front cost that contains the features that is required. The support can be added with the maintenance contract and the upgrades are provided at a reduced cost. If the software is a software-as-a-service them there is o requirement of installation of hardware or software (Barnaghi et al., 2012). The customization may be started with the minimum necessary requirements and can be added on later. This can be also tailored according to the needs and the processes of the organization. The desired changes can be made quickly. However, there is high initial cost involved. Most of the changes and the features that will be requested will have to be paid. The ramping up of the new developers may incur additional costs. While the in-house software will be produced by the organization that may later be available for the commercial use and be on the solitary judgment of the organization, which is developing. The need to develop this software is when there is t he non-availability of the software in the market. Both the customization of the off shelf software and the development of the in-house software has its pros and cons but the customization of the off-shelf software will enable the Company in the opportunity to expand its business (Choo, 2014). Reasons for Success The security adults helps to identify the security risks and the validation of the protection devices. The security adults enable the laying of the groundwork for identification to secure the infrastructure. These also provide the objective insight on the effectiveness of the complete security program (Barnaghi et al., 2012). The managing security helps to manage the security flaws. There is the maintenance and administration along with the reliable monitoring and evaluation of the events, which take place on a daily basis. The advancement in the security management software has reduced the responsibilities of the security personnel. The security policy is another reason for the success of the organization. The company has an information security policy and the company expects to conduct it themselves with the matters that affect the security position of the business. Some policies are related to security and the other policies are in terms of their impact to the security risks regar ding to the non-IT employees. The security is classified as the deep technology category and there is the use of the complex techniques that includes the block chain. The fusion of the technical expertise with the domain expertise is a powerful combination (Alrajeh, Khan Shams, 2013). Probable reasons for Failure There may be common misconceptions arising in the organization. There has to be the availability of the latest data-loss prevention tool with the organization. The fundamental issue within the culture of the organization that may cause some risks to arise is a problem. The applications of the traditional security strategies also tend to give rise to risks. These traditional security methods do not provide the visibility f the different risks. There is security risk in the culture and the enforcement area also. There are certain manners and activities, which correlate to the likelihood of a breach-taking place (Vacca, 2012). There has to be the provision of the necessary data that support the strategic decision-making, if these are not provided then risks will arise which may lead to the failure. The choice overload may also be a reason for the failure of the plan to expand the business (Barnaghi et al., 2012). The underinvestment for this plan for expansion may lead to the failure of the expansion plan. There can be threats by the hackers and of the cyber breaches. The organization has to be prepared for these threats and attacks. It will be impossible to respond to each one of the reported attacks but the company has to be alert at every moment. Conclusion Thereby the following report is an investigation of the possibility of the expansion of the business. The following report gives the discussion regarding the information and the security functions that are there in the market at hand and its uses. The report has provided with a focus on the protection and the technical aspects of the advantages and the risks involved. The respective Company is a small software organization that was established less than five years ago. The software organization is based in Melbourne. The company deals with the expansion and the customization of the applications that concentrate in the information and the network security area. The Company at present and compiling the recent circumstances is exploring option to increase its production opportunities in the next five years to its other branches within the information and the communication technology. The events of the cyber attacks, cyber spying, ransomware, threats of the insider are reported frequentl y. The immunity to these protection breaches is low hence, the usage of the applications that focus in the information and the network security area is necessary. Before the deliberation for expansion of the business, there are some points to be kept in mind, which have been discussed in the report. The managing of the new locations for the expansion is necessary. There has to be the managing of the energy and the resources between the new and the old locations. The network security is effective and manages the access to the network. The duty of the network security is to target the threats and stops them from spreading to the network of an individual. Recommendations There should be the implementation of the network segmentation. This comprises of the classifying and the categorizing of the information and technology assets, data and the employees into definite groups. The placing of the resources in the different areas of the network of the organization will not allow the exploitation of the entire system. If this is not there in the system of the Company then the cyber threats will make the organization vulnerable (Enck et al., 2014). There should be usage of the secure remote access methods, which have the ability to connect to the network in a remote manner. This enhances the convenience for the end users. The encrypted data channel allows for sending and receiving data through the public infrastructure. With the help of the Virtual Private Network, the users will have remotely access to their resources. There should be use of strong passwords only to keep the system and the information secure. The use of different passwords for different accounts will enable better control. The passwords should have eight characters approximately and the greater number of characters will need the hackers to guess more. The installation of the new software should have the ability to change all the passwords with permission of the user. References Anderson, R., Moore, T. (2012). Why Did The Leveller Movement Fail To Achieve Its Political And Religious Objectives In The Search For Settlement After The Civil War Essay Example
Why Did The Leveller Movement Fail To Achieve Its Political And Religious Objectives In The Search For Settlement After The Civil War Paper As the Civil War drew to an end, the emergence of many radical groups became noticeable. The collapse of authority meant that they could now come of hiding, debate in public and develop their ideas. One of the radical groups that emerged were, as named by their opponents, the Levellers, as they wished to level out society. They had many ideas on how they thought society should be won and these political and religious objectives were put forward to Parliament in The Agreement of the People in 1647. This document was much more radical than those before it. In terms of political aims, the Levellers wanted to extend the franchise and achieve manhood suffrage, as they believed that everyone had equal rights to vote. They wanted to reform the legal system to give equality to everyone before the law and achieve recognition of peoples fundamental rights and liberties. They also believed that the sovereign power should lay with the people, not with the King or Parliament. So, why did the Levellers movement fail to achieve these definite political and religious objectives after the Civil War? One major factor in the downfall of the Leveller movement is the bad leadership and organisation. Also, some of the main leaders, for example, John Lilburne, were imprisoned for their actions. This meant that the leaders that were present could have no real effect on the way the Leveller movement was organised and this contributed to their failure. Another key factor that led that prevented the Levellers from achieving their political and religious objectives was the fact that they had never won national support. Their main base was in London and the South East, among merchants and traders who would benefit from their reforms. This played a large role in the collapse of the Leveller movement, as overall there were not enough Levellers throughout the country to allow it to continue. Another reason for the Levellers failure was their lack of a co-ordinated programme with full-blown policies. They all had definite aims that they wanted to achieve, but had not put much thought into how they would reach these targets. Also, they were neither numerous nor aggressive enough. A combination of these factors meant that they could easily be defeated and that their policies were not implemented. The Levellers also failed to capture the army, another key factor that contributed to the end of the Levellers. Although some of the rank and file support them, as they too would benefit from some of their objectives, a lot of the army were more interested in pay and conditions than in theoretical schemes of government. They also had no support from the officers, the so-called Grandees, like Cromwell and Ireton as their power could be curbed by the Levellers ideas. This meant they had little support in Parliament. Another reason that the Levellers had little support in Parliament was because the rich and wealthy landowners felt threatened by the Levellers. If the Levellers achieved their objectives they felt that they would lose power, money and land and there would be a major destruction of social order. They also thought that people that didnt own land shouldnt get the right to vote, as they had nothing to lose, so couldnt be trusted. This view was particularly emphasised by Ireton. This lack of support from the wealthy meant that the most influential people in society did not support them, and this lack of support added to the factors that led to their failure. Cromwells strong opposition to the Levellers and their objectives, as he believed that society was based upon property and that if the Levellers ideas were implemented it would lead to anarchy. All in all, the Levellers ideas were much too radical for him to accept. He played a major role in the breakdown of the Leveller movement when he crushed their mutinies, especially the mutiny at Burford. This led to the execution of 3 of the leaders and a defeat from which the Levellers would find hard to recover from. Cromwell also had an affect on the outcome of the Putney Debates in 1647. It was here that that terms of the Agreement of the People, put forward by the Levellers, were debated. In the end, the meeting broke up without an agreement and ended in a stalemate. If the Levellers had been more successful they may not have failed. They were unsuccessful at the Putney debates mainly because the majority of the army trusted Cromwell, not the Leveller speaker, so support couldnt be gained. Also, Rainborough, a Leveller, had been killed, leaving them without their most dynamic speaker. This failure to gain support and force through their reforms at the Putney debates marked the beginning of the end of the Leveller movement. The Levellers emerged at a time when there was severe economic hardship and this made their policies attractive to the working class people, who would benefit from their reforms, but as the economic situation improved support for the Levellers started to decline. This was a major factor in their failure, once again, due to lack of support. In the words of Brailsford it [the Leveller Movement] was neither defeated nor suppressed. It faded out because it had nothing to do. This is still an idea argued by historians today. In any case, the Levellers failed to achieve their political and religious aims in search for a settlement after the war. This was due to a combination of factors, but mainly because of the lack of support, either due to opposition to their objectives or due to improvement in economic conditions. Either way, if there had been more support for the Levellers throughout the country they may have been able to achieve what they had set out to do.

Voting against the Perelmanââ¬â¢s reorganization plan and ? enforcing Carl Icahnââ¬â¢s initial reorganization plan from December 10, 1996; ? Chapter 7 ââ¬â liquidation. As soon as Marvelââ¬â¢s management files a petition for relief with a bankruptcy court an automatic stay goes into effect. Marvelââ¬â¢s management then continues running the company and has the exclusive right to propose a reorganization plan within 120 days. This plan will be voted on by all the claimants and if at least ? f them vote in favour of the reorganisation plan, it is accepted. If the plan is not accepted within 180days, creditors can propose their own reorganization plan or choose to liquidate the company as seen in the last option mentioned above. In case of the first option being realised, public debt holders sell their bonds at then (31/1/1997) prevailing prices (Exhibit 6). In this case Marvel Holding public debt holders receive $1. 886 per collateral share, Marvel Parent Holdings debt holders receive $1. 762 per share and Marvel III Holding debt holders receive $1. 868 per collateral share. In case ? f the claimants vote for the restructuring plan proposed by Perelman, there will be 427 new shared issued (in addition to the 101. 8 shares already outstanding), for which there will be a cash investment of $365mln made into the company. $326. 8mln of these $365mln will be then paid for acquisition of Toy Biz, which leaves the company with a number of shares of 511. 8mln and cash holdings of $38. 2mln ($365mnl-$326. 8mln). The price of the old shares at the time was $2; the new share price would therefore be $1. 11 (365+2*101. 8)/511. , which is less than what debt holders would receive in case of immediate sale of their bonds. In case, the claimants vote against the Perelmanââ¬â¢s plan, they will be offered to vote for the Icahnââ¬â¢s plan, in which case the new share price, depending on the rights offering price (p r), would be p=(101. 8*2+350)/(101. 8+350/ pr ), where pr should be smaller than 2. In case p is more than the price the debt holder would get from the sale of the bond, they will vote for Icahnââ¬â¢s plan, otherwise, they will opt for selling the bonds right away. 1- The last option, which is liquidation (Chapter 7), should go into effect when all the abovementioned options have failed. According to Bear Stearns analysis, Marvel is worth more as a going concern then in case of liquidation. Based on the liquidation scenario, Exhibit 8, private debt holders, mainly banks, recover 69 cents on the dollar face value, whereas public debt holders, who hold unsecured claims, and equity holders, who according to the absolute priority rule are junior to all other creditors, get nothing. That is why, from a perspective of a public debt holder it is more profitable to vote in favour of the reorganization plan proposed by Carl Icahn (or sell the bonds, depending on p). However, secured claimants may have an incentive to vote against because in case of liquidation they recover approximately 70% of their claims and one should keep in mind that the longer the restructuring process lasts, the less valuable the enterprise and its assets become. -2-

Book Review - Essay Example Context 1 Globalization as a Problem At the first, the author comes out argumentative towards globalization. The author describes globalization as a problem only because it is something, which is being mismanaged by institutions (Stiglitz). The author arguments that international institutions such as the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund or the World Bank have made poor organizations poorer. It is because the benefit has been transferred to the developed nations and because the institutions have prioritized profits over environmental health, the peoplesââ¬â¢ lives in the poor countries have been compromised. The author puts responsibility of mismanagement to the international institutions, which look for the size, the volume of an economy and the power in a respective nation to provide benefits and opportunities. The author actually tries to put a light on the context that globalization is a problem if it gets mismanaged or uncontrolled (Stiglitz). Leading the argument the author comes with an objection that United States, which is largest in economic volume, gets the veto power from the IMF. Similarly, the country being the largest in all economies appoints the head of the World Bank, the organization which deals with the sanctioning up of loans to worldââ¬â¢s poor countries. ... Stiglitz settles the argument by describing the implications of Washington Consensus, which is a consensus build up just to weaken the already deprived countries. The author asserts the policies of the Consensus, which declare lending machinery, which is often counterproductive instead of out-bringing for the poor nations. The policies actually favor the bureaucracy, the capitalist regime and the high rise authorities which only fall in the idea of profit maximization (Lopez 10-14). The author explains that mismanagement of globalization is caused by four major practices; high privatization, low investment, low taxes reforms on imports, and high volatility of the foreign capital. The argument of the author extends on the consequences of these practices which have been adopted by the poor nations as proposed by the power block (The World Controlling Economic Machinery). All the countries have got from these practices and policies is that they have gone to more economic instability. It is deprivation of the countries, which they have received from these undermining practices and policies (Stiglitz 5-7). Context 2 Managing Globalization as a Solution The book has provided extensive knowledge on how globalization can become the benefit of the deprived (Lopez). It has explained the propositions of the author that how globalization can be turned to the benefit of the underprivileged world. Balancing out the trend of globalization and its affects is the second context/segment of the book, presenting globalization as a solution if it gets managed in accordance to the improvement of peopleââ¬â¢s lives (Putterman). Stiglitz proposes certain solutions in regards of globalization and the trend of it. The author talks about the changes and reforms in the globalization
